Why This Is Different

Cell Tower Lease vs. AirNode Hosting

The traditional path to earning from your property requires a carrier to come to you. That almost never happens. Here is how AirNode hosting compares.

Traditional Cell Tower Lease

Requires a 50 to 200 foot tower on your property
Carriers have thousands of applicants per lease opportunity
Success rate under 1% for property owners who apply
Consulting firms charge $1,000+ just to submit an application
Leases take 12 to 24 months to negotiate and finalize
Equipment weighs hundreds of pounds, requires heavy structural support
Only works for properties near highways or dense population centers

AirNode Hosting

Compact devices that mount on rooftops, walls, or poles
Apply directly through the Network Builder platform
Approval based on location suitability, not carrier politics
Zero cost to you. No consulting fees, no application fees
Installation coordinated and paid by the Operator
Homes, businesses, farms, and rural properties all qualify
Earn ongoing rewards as long as the AirNode is active
Real Revenue

How Hosts Earn

Hosts earn a share of AirNode rewards based on terms negotiated directly with the Operator. If you are also the Operator (Host-Operator), you receive the full share of net revenue. Rewards scale with subscriber activity in your coverage area, and payments arrive monthly as USD or USDC.

  • 1

    Subscriber Traffic

Every call, text, and data session processed through the AirNode at your location generates network fees that translate into your rewards.

  • 2

    Uptime Bonus

Consistent power and internet at your site means higher reward multipliers. The network rewards hosts who keep their location online and reliable.

  • 3

    Network Growth

As more subscribers join World Mobile in your area, the AirNode at your property handles more traffic and your rewards increase over time.

  • 4

    Flexible Terms

Reward sharing between Hosts and Operators is negotiated privately. If you own the hardware and the property (Host-Operator), you keep the full share of net revenue.

What You Need

Property Requirements

You do not need technical skills, expensive equipment, or a perfect location. Here is what qualifies.

Reliable Power

Your property needs consistent electrical service. AirNodes draw minimal power but need to stay online for optimal rewards.

🌐

Internet Connection

A stable internet connection (wired preferred) for the AirNode to backhaul data. Standard home or business internet works for most models.

🏢

Suitable Location

Rooftop, exterior wall, or elevated outdoor space with reasonable line of sight. Higher elevation means better coverage range and higher rewards.

🔑

Physical Access

The installation team needs one time access for setup. After that, the device operates autonomously with remote monitoring.

📄

Property Rights

You must own the property or have written authorization from the owner to host equipment. Renters can participate with landlord approval.

Built for Bellingham

Why the Pacific Northwest?

Bellingham and the surrounding PNW region have unique coverage needs. Mountainous terrain, rural communities, coastal areas, and a growing population create demand that traditional carriers ignore because the infrastructure cost is too high for them.

HexyNodes operates 7 licensed hexes covering greater Bellingham and Port Angeles. Every host site we add extends coverage further into the community. Properties with elevation, such as hilltops, multi story buildings, and farms with clear sightlines, are especially valuable to the network.

FAQ

Common Questions

How much money can I make from hosting wireless equipment?
Earnings depend on the type of AirNode hosted, the number of subscribers who connect through it, and the reward sharing terms you negotiate with the Operator. Unlike traditional cell tower leases that pay a flat monthly rate, AirNode hosting rewards scale with actual network usage. More subscribers in your coverage area means higher total rewards. If you are also the Operator (Host-Operator), you receive the full share of net revenue from the AirNode.
How do I get a cell tower on my property?
Traditional cell tower leases require carriers to approach you, and fewer than 1% of property owners who apply through consulting firms ever get a lease. World Mobile takes a different approach. Instead of massive cell towers, you host a compact AirNode radio. You apply through the Network Builder platform, your local Hex Operator (HexyNodes in Bellingham) reviews your location, and if approved, installation is coordinated at no cost to you.
What are the requirements for hosting?
You need a property with reliable electricity, a stable internet connection, and a suitable mounting location such as a rooftop, exterior wall, or elevated outdoor area. You must own the property or have written authorization from the owner. No technical skills are required. The installation is handled by a licensed professional.
Is there any cost to become a host?
No. Hosting is completely free. The AirNode hardware is purchased by the Operator (which may be HexyNodes or another participant). Installation is coordinated and paid for by the Operator. You provide the location and collect the rewards.
What does the equipment look like?
AirNodes are compact wireless devices, not massive cell towers. Portal models are roughly the size of a small satellite dish and mount on rooftops or exterior walls. They are much smaller and lighter than traditional cellular equipment. The exact appearance varies by AirNode model.
Will the AirNode affect my internet speed?
The AirNode uses a portion of your internet bandwidth to backhaul data. For CBRS cellular AirNodes (Portal models), a business grade internet connection is recommended. For smaller AirNodes, standard home internet is sufficient. World Mobile can help assess whether your current connection is adequate.
How long does installation take?
Most installations are completed in a single visit, typically a few hours. A licensed installer handles all the work, including mounting, cabling, and network configuration. You just need to provide access to the installation location.
Do I need to maintain the equipment?
No. AirNodes are monitored remotely through the World Mobile platform. If maintenance is needed, it is coordinated by the Operator. Your only responsibility is keeping the power and internet running at your property.
What if I want to stop hosting?
You can discontinue hosting at any time by coordinating with the Operator. The AirNode equipment will be removed from your property. There are no long term contracts locking you in.
How is the reward split between Hosts and Operators?
When a separate Operator deploys hardware at your property, the reward split is negotiated directly between you and the Operator. World Mobile does not mandate a specific percentage. If you are a Host-Operator (you buy the hardware and host it on your own property), you receive the full share of net AirNode revenue. HexyNodes as the Hex Operator earns a separate coordination reward and does not take a cut from your host compensation.
Can I host an AirNode if I rent my property?
You need written authorization from the property owner to host equipment. If you rent, you would need your landlord’s approval. In many cases, landlords are interested because the hosting generates revenue for the property with no cost or maintenance burden.
What types of AirNodes could be installed at my property?
The most common AirNodes hosted at residential and commercial properties are Portal models (CBRS cellular, about 1.5 mile range) and Apex models (fixed wireless, up to 30 km range). The specific model depends on your location’s coverage needs and the Operator’s deployment plan. Titan AirNodes (macro base stations) are typically hosted on commercial towers or large structures.
What areas are you accepting host applications for?
HexyNodes is currently accepting host applications in the greater Bellingham, Washington area and Port Angeles. We operate 7 licensed hexes covering these regions. If you are outside these areas, you can check the World Mobile Network Builder platform to find other Hex Operators near you.
How is this different from renting my rooftop to a cell tower company?
Traditional cell tower leases involve massive structures, lengthy negotiations (12 to 24 months), consulting fees, and are controlled by a handful of major carriers who rarely need new sites. AirNode hosting involves compact, lightweight equipment, a straightforward application process, zero cost to you, and an approval timeline measured in weeks rather than years.
